Roof
Wash the cedar roof and clear debris between the shakes
Every year, in June.
What to do
Rinse it with a garden hose and clear needles and moss from between the shakes. Never a pressure washer.
Why it matters
Debris held between shakes stays wet, and wet cedar rots. Pressure washing destroys the surface of the shingle.
Where this comes from
Habitat Studio p.16. Wood roofs are dangerously slippery wet — this is a job for someone with the right ladder.
Catch it while it’s still maintenance.
